Before applying for the PhD programme at Guru Kashi University, candidates must ensure that they meet the academic and regulatory eligibility conditions prescribed under the UGC PhD Regulations, 2022. The eligibility norms are designed to admit only those candidates who have demonstrated academic excellence and research aptitude in their chosen field.

Academic Qualification

• Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline from a recognized university.
• A minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent CGPA is required in the qualifying examination.
• Candidates belonging to SC / ST / OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) / PwD / EWS categories are entitled to a 5% relaxation (i.e., minimum 50%).

Eligibility for Professional Degree Holders

• Candidates with a professional degree such as M.Tech, MBA, M.Pharm, M.Ed, LL.M, or equivalent can also apply for a PhD in the relevant area of specialization.
• Exceptional candidates holding B.Tech or equivalent degree with excellent academic records and valid GATE/NET scores may also be considered as per university norms.

Exemption from Entrance Test

Candidates fulfilling any of the following conditions are exempted from the entrance test and will be directly called for the interview/viva-voce round:

• Qualified UGC-NET / UGC-CSIR NET / JRF / GATE / GPAT / SLET / CEED.
• Completed M.Phil. degree with coursework and dissertation evaluation as per UGC norms.
